Now a qualified oxymoron
The DrunkenRaisin recipe ain’t just the stuff in it; it already goes far beyond the recipes you find elsewhere. There’s also great value in the process itself. Let us explain what you need to do to make them correctly.
Don’t use rum with raisins.
Start with a jumbo golden raisin, which is about four times larger than the undernourished boxed raisin you get from the grocery store shelf. We buy bulk from the packers in California. You, however, might find them in a health food grocery store, and they will run $6 to $9 a pound
Place your raisins in a glass (plastic if you know it’s food-safe) container with an available top. Fill the container to about 75%, leaving room for them to grow after adding gin and other ingredients.
Select the best gin you can find with the flavor most influenced by the juniper berry. The juniper berry is one of the most critical agents in your recipe. (Side note: Add liquid juniper berry to our recipe to enhance its anti-inflammation value. This along with liquid turmeric, a known powerful pain relieving agent, would be an excellent combination. You can purchase these items in your local health store.) Now, you need a pint of gin for a pound of raisins, and the right gin will set you back between $7 and $10 a pint. The liquid turmeric and juniper berry is very expensive but will be around for many batches.
First, add the cinnamon to your container of raisins sprinkling it across the surface. We suggest you use the Cinnamomum verum cinnamon out of Sri Lanka and not the grocery store cassia kind generally from China. (Two different trees.) You can find the right cinnamon in thehealth food store. As a side note, it would be preferable for you to use cinnamon bark oil as it’s 10 times more powerful…BUT some people break out with hives with only a minor amount of the ingredient. Not particularly harmful but irritating never the less.
Next step is to add the gin to your container until it’s about 1 to 2 fingers above the raisins. The raisins will expand to about 3 or four fingers above the gin over a two-week marinating period. After you’ve added the gin, seal the container…tight, and start shaking it with vigor for about 15 to 20 shakes to
start. When you set it down the raisins will be peeking through the top of the gin.
Each day, for the next two weeks, you need to shake the container during this marinating period. This effectively expands the raisin to absorb the gin AND cleaning the sulfur dioxide coating from every golden raisin. We use large round containers, which are regularly rolled to provide this action.
At the end of 8 or 9 days open your container and add hot honey. We use clover honey, but your options can go to other honey sources. We suggest you find honey by bees in your region since they are more compatible with the air you breathe and the food from local farmers you eat.
Day 14 you can empty your container into a colander to drain away the fluids. Let them sit for about 20 minutes. As an option you can a pour them over a large flat pan, spreading them evenly, and put them into the oven at a low temperature to draw down some of the alcohol. We don’t suggest is option unless you are acutely bothered by the alcohol taste.
Put the treated raisins back into a sealed container and leave them on your countertop. Not necessary to refrigerate. They’re now handy and ready to consume 8 to 10 a day.
We’ve disclosed the process in detail and informed you of the ingredients that make a DrunkenRaisin (one word). Because little secrets and tricks of the trade are essential to the production of our unique product, we weren’t specific as to our perfected measurements, temperatures and specific individual processes we perform. Your gin-soaked raisin will be a vast improvement over the ‘quick and easy’ obsolete approach vastly promoted on the Internet, and your friends will soon have you producing for them as well.
As a recap, a properly prepared recipe for a pound of gin-soaked raisins will cost between $15 and $19, (based upon the quality of your ingredients), along with a serious commitment of time and effort. You’ll
be proud of the product you produce but allow me to mention that for only a few extra bucks a pound we will be happy to do it for you. Matter of fact, our subscribers, most of whom get 6-pounds every 4 months, spend only $19 a pound.

DrunkenRaisins are a low-cost home remedy for arthritis pain, providing significant savings compared to expensive prescription drugs and helping avoid their serious side effects for many users

Honey’s anti-inflammatory benefits come from its antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavonoids, which reduce oxidative stress, inhibit inflammatory enzymes, and modulate cytokines—helping lower inflammation throughout the body and supporting heart, metabolic, and immune health

Jumbo Golden Raisins support heart, bone, and gut health, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, boost immunity, prevent anemia, and provide antioxidants to help prevent chronic disease and promote healthy aging.

Another powerhouse on the DrunkinRaisins team is our cinnamon (which is imported from Sri Lanka). Cinnamon is know to promote circulation, help maintain a healthy immune system, promote oral health, help alleviate sore muscles and joints while providing other internal health.

For many people gin-soaked raisins are reported to relieve arthritic or inflammation pain. They’re also a great healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth. We suggest eating 8 to 10 raisins twice a day for the first couple weeks.

Juniper berries contain potent antioxidants as well as antibacterial properties. Fermenting them in gin makes the combination extra effective at treating arthritis and other chronic inflammation disorders.
